What is the difference between calibration and calibration check?

Instrument calibration is performed under laboratory conditions in highly specialized and customized calibration rigs. Based on the data collected by the instrument, and the precise knowledge of the sequence, calibration constants are derived. A calibration-check is a simpler procedure where the objective is to verify that the instrument is within acceptance thresholds and performing optimally.

See answer

Is it imperative to have a DeviHealth kit for DeviGyro, or optional?

No, it is not imperative, it is optional. DeviHealth is available to DeviGyro customers simply for enabling them to conduct onsite calibration-checks, whenever required.

See answer

How long does it take to complete a DeviGyro calibration-check with the DeviHealth system?

Approximately 20 minutes in total. With the first couple of minutes and the last 10 minutes not involving operator handling.

Yes, DeviShot, DeviGyro, DeviFlex RAPID and DeviAligner instruments are all DeviCloud compatible.

See answer

What is the Brilliant Blue Technology (BBT) activation system and how does it work?

BBT is our wireless communication system. It is a Bluetooth signal that is sent from the internal logging tool, through the pressure barrel and to the handheld unit. This replaces the conventional method of cables or having to open the assembly to achieve connect and communication

See answer

Is the DeviCounter component permanently mounted or removeable?

The DeviCounter component is securely mounted and designed to remain in place, however removable in case an upgrade or swap out is required. Saving the hassle of having to freight the complete DeviRodder unit.

See answer

How do we charge the DeviCounter built into the DeviRodder?

Each DeviRodder unit comes equipped with a high-quality power bank that has a capacity of 15000mAh. Making it convenient to charge the DeviCounter component when needed.

Yes, the DeviRodder supports survey instruments with continuous and or multi-shot surveying modes.

See answer

What rod sizes is the DeviHead compatible with?

NWL and HWL.

See answer

My DeviHead will not wake up/start

Replace batteries, check for water or moisture inside running gear. See if the tool comes up in the Bluetooth overview after waking it up with the magnet, even though it does not blink. If nothing works, contact devico support.

See answer

Is an Android handheld device included in the DeviHead kit?

Yes, an Android Handheld device is included with every Devico borehole survey solution.

See answer

What running gear is provided with a DeviGyro RG40 Standard kit?

A DeviGyro RG40 Standard Kit includes a DeviGyro Instrument Kit (Instrument and Android phone), an RG40 Running Gear kit (pressure barrel, centralizers, bull nose, swivel and spear head/wire adapter and 3 v-stands) and a DeviCounter Kit (DeviCounter, Clamp and Android phone).

See answer

Is the DeviGyro RG40 Standard compatible with V-Wall rods?

Yes, it is compatible with standard, V-Wall and W-Wall coring rods.

See answer

How long is the DeviGyro RG40 Standard when fully assembled?

Compact (without extension bars) 1.5m. Extended (with extension bars) 2.2m.

See answer

Can we survey vertical drill holes with the RG30 Slimline?

Yes, the advanced DeviGyro technology precisely detects and quantifies any deviation the instrument is subjected to as it traverses the drill hole. Providing highly accurate, repeatable data at any angle, including vertical.

See answer

How much does the RG30 Slimline weight when assembled with the DeviGyro?

4.2kg/9.3lbs.

See answer

What running gear is provided with a DeviGyro RG30 Slimline kit?

A DeviGyro RG30 Slimline Kit includes a DeviGyro Instrument Kit (Instrument and Android phone), an RG30 Running Gear kit (pressure barrel, bull nose, top sub and 2 v-stands) and a DeviCounter Kit (DeviCounter, Clamp and Android phone).

See answer

How long does it take to survey a 100m drill hole with the DeviGyro Overshot Xpress (OX)?

Assuming a moderate average survey speed of approx. 60m/min, a 100m survey takes about 4 minutes. A key point here is that by running the OX when retrieving core, surveying becomes part of the drilling cycle and therefore survey time does not interrupt drilling productivity.

See answer

Can you run a survey without retrieving the core tube?

Yes. Though for this process we recommend using the spear cap (provided in OX kit) or removing the overshot latch unit prior to doing so, to mitigate the risk of accidentally latching to the tube.

See answer

What is the contingency plan for a stuck tube?

The shear pin we use in the OX assembly is designed to break under a specific amount of pressure (approx. shear strength 17,5 kN). Preventing the risk of having to cut the wireline and leave the tool down the hole if the tube is stuck. Only the latch unit of the OX will remain in the hole when this pin breaks. The survey can still be completed also.

See answer

Can the DeviGyro be used without the DeviCounter?

Yes, it can. In that case you have to take stationary readings at specified depths. Whenever possible, however, continuous surveys are recommended. They give better accuracy because they have the benefit of precise depth information from the DeviCounter.

See answer

How long does it take to survey a 100m drill hole with the DeviGyro?

Assuming a moderate average survey speed of approx. 60m/min, a 100m survey takes about 4 minutes. In addition, if you are conducting core drilling and running the OX assembly surveying becomes part of the drilling cycle and therefore survey time does not interrupt drilling productivity.

See answer

What is the maximum operating speed for the DeviGyro?

Although the DeviGyro has been successfully tested at speeds of 180m/min, the maximum recommended operating speed is
100 m/min.

See answer

What is the maximum operating speed for the DeviFlex RAPID?

The maximum recommended operating speed for the DeviFlex RAPID is 45 m/min.

See answer

What sizes does the DeviFlex RAPID support?

B, N, H, P (plus the different wheel sizes).

See answer

Can I run my DeviFlex in continuous mode?

Yes, if you have the DeviFlex Rapid. We have a special offer to effectively upgrade Standard DeviFlex units to DeviFlex Rapid, including DeviCounter and android device.

See answer

How much savings can be expected from using DeviDrill?

Savings can come in may forms, including reduction in drilling meters leading to direct time & cost savings and indirect cost savings due to reduced core handling and logging, fewer drill sites leading to cost & environmental savings, and consistent target accuracy leading to cost savings. If you have a project where you believe directional coring could be used, we recommend contacting us. We prepare directional proposals at no cost, making it easy to see the benefit of DCD in your specific case.

See answer

How sharply can the drill hole be turned when utilizing the DeviDrill?

We recommend an average turn of 9° per 30m drilled, or a radius of about 200 meters, to make the directional drilling efficient while avoiding excessive wear on the drill string.

See answer

Do we require additional mud pumps, drill strings or other equipment to use the DeviDrill?

No, the DeviDrill fits directly on the standard drill string and operates with similar flow rates as the regular N-sized wireline core barrels. During drilling the DeviDrill is rotated by the drill string at normal speed, typically 7-900 RPM, while at the same time steering the hole in a predefined direction and collecting core samples.

See answer

Is the DeviCounter sold separately?

Yes, even though the DeviCounter is included as part of all DeviGyro kits, it is available for separate purchase and may be used in any case where wire length measurement is needed.

See answer

What is the weight of the DeviCounter kit?

Approximately 12 kg/26 lbs.

See answer

How is the depth displayed?

The depth is sent wirelessly for immediate and continuous display on a handheld device, either in the dedicated DeviCounter app or integrated in the app of the survey tool.

See answer

What do I do when my DeviCore will not wake up/start?

Replace batteries, check for water or moisture inside running gear. See if the tool comes up in the Bluetooth overview after waking it up with the magnet, even though it does not blink. If nothing works, contact devico support.

See answer

Does the DeviCore system record inclination?
